Mark your calendars for the May Windrock ATV Club ride. The Windrock ATV Club will be having a sanctioned ride at Royal Blue East Side, on May 19,2012. The ride will start at 9am ET. We will leave from the Ride Royal Blue Campground. All Windrock Club and prespective Club Members are Welcome on this ride. Come join us!

Date: May 19, 2012
Time: 9am ET
Location: Ride Royal Blue Campground
Ride Length: 40-50 miles
Difficulty: Low - Mid Moderate

CHANGE IN RIDE LOCATION

Due to the traffic problems on Interstate 75 and now the North Bound lanes are down to 1 lane and will probably be very congested, we are going to change the Ride Location to Coal Creek. So the new info is:

Time: 9am ET
Location: Coal Creek OHV Area
Ride Length 40 miles +
Difficulty: Not Very.....

I don't know you will have to call someone and ask them. I am not a member of RBR.

Re: May 19,2012 Club Ride - Royal Blue - 9am Eastern

Hello Windrockers,

I am a member of both clubs and try to ride just for the fun of it with both clubs when I can. A lot of real good people belong to both clubs in my book! As far as parking at the campground, I was told back in the winter I needed a parking permit even though I am a member because the club and campground are not connected. They really didn't watch it much then, but, now, with some great camping weather, the camping areas are sometimes at a premium and there are people that just camp there and fill it up sometimes, so I would think it would be a good idea to get that permit. (The Campground office and store is usually open) It just hangs on the mirror. Also, beware of the traffic delays in the rare case you are coming in from the north on I-75. It shouldn't be a problem getting there from I-75 south or returning. On your way back home, just don't get on the interstate at where you exited on Sinking Creek. Go straight past the interstate entrance and the gravel road will run into the highway that goes to Oneida. Turn left on the main paved highway and you will be only a couple miles away from the I-75 interstate exit and miss all that construction mess. If anyone sees an error in my information or directions, please post corrections. I don't mind at all. Heck, I'm lucky to keep all four ATV wheels on the dirt side of the road. lol Hope to be there myself!

Can someone please tell me about how long it takes to get there from Oliver Springs? We've not been there and I am hoping to talk hubby into going up there for the ride, we won't have the kids that weekend because we are celebrating our anniversay.

Re: May 19,2012 Club Ride - Royal Blue - 9am Eastern

If I were leaving Oliver Springs, I'd go over to the Clinton exit at I-75 and go north 22 miles to the Stinking Creek Exit at 144. You might leave a little early because there might be some residual traffic due to the road work north of there. When you get to the Stinking Creek exit, go, like Rooster said, right about 4 miles and on the right will be the Royal Blue Campground. It has signs and you can see it from the road across the creek/river. Gas is really high at that Campground and there are no gas stations at that exit. So, if you need gas on the way, there is a Pilot and two other gas stations at the Oneida/Huntsville exit 141 right before Stinking Creek. By the way, Stinking Creek does not stink! lol I understand it got it's name in the Civil War because of the North and South dumping dead soldiers into the river there thus getting it's name in a morbid kind of way. It is really pretty country now and seems to have pretty nice trails from what I have seen along with waterfalls etc... I am no expert by any means. I have only been on those trails a few times because I am kind of new to ATV'ing. I get lost as soon as soon as I leave the campground, but Rooster and others know that place real well and can show everyone the highlights. I don't know if the Elk viewing tower is too far away from the starting point, but I hope to ride there one day!

Have a great one,

From Oliver Springs, you can go straight through Dutch Valley into Lake City and save 15 minutes.

Is there a route planned?
I have ATV Safety course in the morning and might join up with you after I'm done.

Haven't planned one yet. Last year we went in this order, Top of the World, Meadow Waterfall, Flatwoods Waterfall, Boat Trail (Ivydale), Little Town Rock, Hills and Jumps. As soon as I get the route I will post it on here. BTW, you taking or giving the ATV Safety Course?

Taking the course, they would never let me give it.
New ride = ATV safety course = $100 voucher

Please remember...

All riders must sign a Club Waiver Ride form. You can either print one off and bring it with you or the forms will be made available the morning of the ride...

Hope to see everyone there! :D
