Re: January 2014 Club Ride

I plan to be there, which will be my first ride at Windrock. I'm bringing my Teryx4. About how many miles will we cover, difficulty level, and approximate ending time? We ride 100+ miles in Bell & Harlan Counties, so I'm fine with long rides, and about all difficulty levels except extreme danger...lol

First off welcome to your first ride at Windrock. Glad that you will be joining us. The ride will be about 50 miles. Nothing extremely dangerous. We usually tailor our rides to the skill level of the group but mostly we ride middle of the road Moderate Trails with just a few challenges thrown in. Ride leaves at 9am Eastern Time. Windrock Permits are required and can be purchased in the parking lot at the General Store. We should return around 5pm Eastern time.

Re: January 2014 Club Ride

Remember, all riders are required to sign a Waiver. You can print your own copy or sign one the morning of the ride. Please arrive a little early if you plan to sign the waiver before the ride. Also, if you need your new land use permit, you might want to come even a little earlier... :D

Re: January 2014 Club Ride

The club rides usually get to see and learn the cool stuff about the area... hope that's the case for this weekend's ride. I love learning about the history and seeing the cool things that can be seen during the winter months when the leaves are off.

And you are correct... Most of our rides are what we like to call destination rides. Means we are going to see something and it holds true this time also.

Re: January 2014 Club Ride

looks like there might be a little snow hanging around for Saturday. if I can figure out a plan to stay warm and get my ole van ready I am going to try to make it. got to see if I can get some heat in it, it has been on the fritz!! the forecast is saying 41, so is it safe to assume the mountain will be lucky to hit 40? if the wind don't blow a lot shouldn't be too bad, but I have a feeling there will be some wind. least it looks sunny!!

later!! Chris

No shame in playing it safe. Suppose to 19 in the morning. That can be a little cool on an ATV. You can always turn around if you get too cold.
