I've been blessed over the last few years in making a ton of great friends in the sport of trail riding. Rode with thousands of folks from all over the country and its always a thrill showing them our trails here in Bell County. Hoping that a lot of you can come to the Wounded Warriors Benefit Ride on June 28th as part of the Our Hometown 4 Our Heroes event (click link to RSVP) at the National Guard Armory in Middlesboro. It would mean a lot to me if we can get a big turn out. We will meet at the large parking lot at Southeast Community and Technical College on 30th Street in Middlesboro at 10 AM (make sure to be ready and unloaded by 10:30 AM).
It will be a moderate level ride...not extremely challenging but with some technical spots here and there (novice riders may want to ride with someone else). The ride will be 40 miles or so. Ride is open to ATVs and UTVs and everyone rides at their own risk under KRS 411.190 and will have to sign a waiver before riding. Riders should bring extra gas if needed, food, and drinks. We will stop for lunch by the water. Very scenic ride so bring your camera.
After leaving the college parking lot, we will ride a very short distance to the Armory. There will be a donation bucket there for Wounded Warriors and we just ask folks donate whatever they can. The riders will then join the people doing the marathon and fitness challenge in prayer if they want to, and watch the opening ceremony. After that (should be around 11-11:30) we will get a police escort for a short distance to the woods.
Want to thank the Middlesboro National Guard, Southeast Community College, Mayor Bill Kelley, and the Middlesboro Police Department. And to my buddies Todd Smith and Robby Southern for putting a lot of time into this event!
I've wanted to do a military ride for years and I think Wounded Warriors is about one of the greatest organizations to try and raise money for. I hope a lot of you I've shared the trails can make it down, both our locals and out of state buddies as well. This will be a fantastic ride...mostly all woods riding, creek crossings, and amazing overlooks. Lets see if we can get a BIG turnout for this great cause! Invite all your friends and feel free to share this post.
