May 20th , 4th Annual Charity ride for Kids with Brain Tumor

Hard to believe it will be the fourth year supporting the Kids with Brain Tumors....this year it will be held at the Windrock Hollow events area pavilion. I know Miss Jessica will be there and maybe a few more "Stars". Paul would you take Jessica out again...she wants mud....

I will pass on what I know, which is subject to change

Be at the Windrock Hollow Events Area Pavilion at 0845 ready to ride, for a riders meeting, there will be a donation jar again, money or checks are welcome, don't have resources for credit cards....

You must have a current daily, or yearly land use permit, and a smile to pass around.... :D

The Windrock Club and the Royal Blue Rangers will supply the guides, if we need to break down to smaller groups...

What ever time you all say, I will have lunch ready, Hot Dogs and Hamburgers/cheese, chips and you know me "Chocolates"...there was talk to go back out and ride some more after lunch for those that wanted to.....new griddle, gas powered grill I have so no lighting off the charcoal ....

I would say those that are leaving after lunch can park at events area, and those riding in the afternoon park in the regular parking area , so after we clean up and lock it up.....

More news to follow as I get it.....

Re: May 20th , 4th Annual Charity ride support PBTF

Fortunately, I'm not working and should be able to make the ride. I'd be happy to have Jessica as my passenger again. And yes, I'll find her some mud and water. You may want to check with her, she got an ATV last year and may be driving herself. Either way, I always have an open seat if someone needs one.

Just FYI, you may have to find an alternate to escort Jessica. I had hernia surgery last week and will be under a 25 lb. lifting restriction for 6 weeks, which takes me right up to the ride. I should be good to go, but I wanted to put that out there early enough just in case. The Dr. should ok it, it's the wife I have to convince.

Thanks for the kind thoughts. I'm recovering great, but it's how long the Dr. keeps me on what restrictions. I see him for my first post-op visit tomorrow, so maybe I'll get a better idea. Fingers crossed. [-o<

Re: May 20th , 4th Annual Charity ride for Kids with Brain T

I went for my first visit with my Dr. today since my surgery 2 weeks ago. He said I'm healing fine and should be able to lift up to 25lbs now. I did ask when I could ride again and he said give it 2 more weeks, to see if I can tolerate it. No promises but I'm sure I'll be able to, this is one I don't want to miss. Will keep you posted.

OK folks! Help spread the word about this ride. We need to help as much as we can. People do not have to be a member to join this ride but we encourage them to come and give a donation and each ride must sign a Club waiver and have a land use permit. At any time we can get checked for the permit.

Remember to bring your own drinks and any snacks you want out on the trail..

Looks like there's nothing to hold me back from riding and hosting Jessica on the 20th. I've also been spreading the word with some of my co-workers to join us.

Re: May 20th , 4th Annual Charity ride for Kids with Brain T

May 20th at Windrock Park, at the new Windrock Events Area, down Hoskins Holler Road near the entrance to trail #2, there is a ATV/SxS ride for Pediatric Brain Tumor Foundation. The Riders meeting is at 0845, and the ride begins at 0900. The Windrock ATV Club and the Royal Blue Rangers will furnish the guides, and will offer different levels of trails to ride. You must have a Coal Creek Land use permit and we ask for a donation that morning at the Riders meeting. Everyone will return around 1300 to eat (furnished with donation)(you know what they say about fat cooks), please bring your drinks, and for those who want to, there will be an evening Ride also. We will have one of our “Stars” there, and she is 19 this year and cancer free for 4 years and doesn’t like Alabama, and is in big with the Lady Vols basketball team……looks like the weather is cooperate and be a great day to ride…… if you meet Miss Jessica you will be hooked too….the General Store at the Trail Head opens at 0800 for the purchase of land use permits…looks like rain on Friday and great weather on Saturday, (fingers crossed) so dust will be down to a min.....just thought I would repost....

Thanks in advance… Wally

Don't forget about this weekend's Ride... Everyone must have a land use permit and sign the Club waiver.. Rides leave at 9:00 am. No alcohol permitted. We will gather at Windrock Hollow past trail 2 oh Hoskins Gap Road. You can park inside the gate to unload. If you plan to ride after lunch, you will need to move your vehicle outside the gate. Please remember this is a charity ride and we need everyone to make a donation. Lunch is provided but bring your own drink..

See everyone there!

Re: May 20th , 4th Annual Charity ride for Kids with Brain T

I am sorry it's a little late, but thank you for those who came to the event. We raised over $4000.00 for Pediatric Brain Tumor research. I feed around 50 and handed out a bunch of Tee shirts. Had a great lunch and fellowship, and everyone got to meet =D> Jess, one of our Star's, (she had a blast)....Thanks again....Wally
